Aurora Bridge, 167 feet above the water level of Lake Union. Officially called the George Washington Memorial Bridge, it opened on George Washington's 200th birthday in 1932. Between its construction and 2011, when 8-foot fences were added on either side of the pedestrian walkways, there were 230 known suicides here, a grim record exceeded only by the Golden Gate Bridge. Photographed from the east walkway of the Fremont Bridge. - Seattle & Ship

Western Red Cedar at the Grove of the Patriarchs. (The broad bright leaves at lower right belong to another tree that is intertwined with the cedar). - Ronette Pulaski Bridge (Twin Peaks)
Reinig road trestle bridge, also called "Ronette Pulaski Bridge" after the character who was found walking along it, dazed and brain-damaged, after escaping the killer. Originally a railway bridge over the Snoqualmie River, built to service the saw mill (see previous posting), the railroad was ripped out after the mill closed (1989), the elevated approach on one side of the bridge torn down, and the bridge converted to a foot bridge, part of a nature trail. A stairway leads up to it on the Reinig Road side, the second stairway built on the site after the first was destroyed by an arsonist. - Ancient Cedar
